We rent on request. We also tell buyers when renting is the worse deal, which on a lot of jobs it is, because a rental is two truck trips and a purchase is one.
Why a rental costs what it costs
The product is the cheap part. Freight is the expensive part, and a rental pays it twice: once to deliver, once to collect. Then there is the rental rate itself, which runs while the job runs, and a damage assessment at the end.
Buying pays freight once. At the end of the job the blocks are still yours: they go on the next job, they get stacked at the yard, or they get sold locally to someone who would rather not pay freight from a plant.
That is the whole argument. It is why we price rental so it never comes out cheaper than owning the same units, and why we would rather you know that before you sign than after.

A weekend closure or a two week event rarely justifies owning, unless the same event happens next year.
Capital is the constraint
Rental is an operating cost on this month's job. Sometimes that is the deciding factor and the arithmetic comes second.
